MOCSEM's General Meeting at Ford World Headquarters is being feature prominently in an article by John Clor of Ford Performance Group. Of course, John is also a huge supporter and member of MOCSEM. The article is featured on Ford Racing's web site and in Fast News from Ford Racing that goes out via email to 450,000 subscribers! What an awesome time for MOCSEM!
We were expecting a great General Meeting at Ford World Headquarters. Ford didn't just deliver, they knocked it out of the park. It was an amazing night that left everyone there in awe.
It takes a small army of volunteers to make Mustang Memories the premier event that it is. We hope you'll consider offering a couple hours of your time at the show to help us pull it off. We've made it convenient and easy to sign up. Just click the Read More link below to find out how.

We are pleased to announce that online worker signup for Mustang Memories 2012 is now available at www.mocsem.com. For those of you who have been living under your Mustang for the past six months, Mustang Memories will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2012, at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. If you thought last year's show was big, this one is shaping up to be even bigger.
It takes over 200 workers to run this show so we hope you will consider helping in any way you can. Most jobs require only 2 or 3 hours of your time and are available at variable times throughout the day so there will be plenty of time to enjoy the show. Our biggest areas of need are parking, gate and judging. Don't worry if you're new to this, we'll teach you everything you need to know. And you don't have to be a MOCSEM member to volunteer, although we certainly hope you'll consider joining the best Mustang club in the world. Best of all, you'll get a free worker T-shirt, free lunch at the show and a fantastic, and free, worker appreciation dinner in October.
Many people have already signed up through their show chairperson, so those of you who have signed up are already in our system. To sign up or just see if you're signed up, click on the following link:

After carefully evaluating the near and long term financial needs of the club, the MOCSEM Board has determined that an increase in membership dues is necessary. Effective June 1, 2012, the regular annual dues for MOCSEM members will be increased to $35 from the current level of $30.
The membership has grown considerably in the past few years as has the number of benefits offered to the members. Benefits that include food at cruise-ins, reserved parking spots at events, special events like factory tours, informative, up-to-date web site and newsletter, vendor discounts, charitable donations and many, many more. To give you a little perspective, dues have not increased in over 12 years, but the benefits available to members has increased significantly. Increasing dues allows the club to continue to maintain and improve the fantastic benefits available to members.
To help reduce the impact of this increase, prior to June 1, 2012, you may renew your membership or start a new membership for up to 10 years at the current rate of $30 per year. The entire cost must be paid prior to June 1, 2012. Effective June 1, 2012, dues will be $35 per year and paid 1 year at a time. You may join or renew by mail, in person at the April or May General Meetings or online at www.mocsem.com.
The 2012 Mustang Dream Giveaway vehicles have been announced. The two cars are a museum quality 1967 Shelby GT500 and a one-of-a-kind 2012 750 HP Shelby GT500. The grand prize winner of the sweepstakes wins both cars plus $50,000 for taxes (see contest rules for details). Of course, the best news is that these two cars will be awarded to the winner at MOCSEM's 2012 Mustang Memories show at Ford World Headquarters on August 12, 2012.
See all the contest details and purchase tickets at www.winthemustangs.com. Your donation is tax-deductible and funds grants that benefit veterans, health & conservation causes.
The Dream Giveaway is offering MOCSEM members a special 10% bonus deal on tickets. For example, spend $20 get 2 tickets free; spend $50 get 5 tickets free; spend $100 get 10 tickets free, etc. Use the promo code MOCSEM when you purchase your tickets to receive the special bonus. This offer is good through 11:59 pm on July 4, 2012.
Vendor pre-registration for MOCSEM's annual Spring Swap & Shop is now open. The swap will be held at Village Ford on Saturday, March 24, 2012. The big news this year is that you can register online. Vendor pre-registration must be completed by March 17, 2012.
MOCSEM's Mustang Memories show is featured in a very nice article in the Enthusiasts section of the Ford Racing web site (www.fordracing.com). This section on the Ford Racing site is the new home of John Clor's Ford Performance Group. The article, written by Ford Performance Group's Mike Laney was also featured in the MCA's Mustang Times magazine. Our show is gaining some very prominent national attention!
The Mustang Memories 2011 Special Edition issue of The Accelerator is now available. We will be mailing copies to those who normally receive The Accelerator through the mail. Additional copies will be available at the next couple General Meetings for those who want to pick one up.
The nomination process for the 2012 board is complete. Click Read More to hear about the results.

During the October General Meeting the process for nominating members for the 2012 MOCSEM Board was completed. The following positions were uncontested so we are pleased to announce the following 2012 MOCSEM board members:
President: Mike Rey
Vice President: Ken Janus
Secretary: Dawn Davis
Trustee: Dave Kalinowski
Treasurer: Rich Kocan
Social Director: April Zygmunt
Membership Chairperson: Kathy Holcomb
Merchandise: Tracey Rey
Editor: Gary Brewer
Web Administrator: Craig Zygmunt
Two people were nominated for the position of MCA Regional Director: Mike Sove' and Julie Boroughs. Voting ballots will be mailed out to all members in good standing to determine which of the two nominees will hold this position next year. Ballots can either be returned by mail or to a secure ballot box that will be available at the November General Meeting. The ballots will be tabulated in November and the results announced at the December General Meeting.
During the September General Meeting the membership approved the creation of a new board position, Web Administrator. This position will be responsible for maintaining and updating the club web site, duties which are currently unofficially performed by the Editor. With an official Web Administrator on the board, we are able to ensure that the club's web site will continue to be actively updated on an ongoing basis. The club by-laws have been amended to reflect this new position. This position will be filled by the upcoming board elections. The nomination process started at the September General Meeting and will continue during the October General Meeting with elections to be held in November.
The weather cooperated and all the preparation and hard work paid off. Mustang Memories 2011 is over and what an amazing show it was. We're still counting everything up so we'll have to update this article later with official numbers, but we can definitely say that the number of show cars, midway vendors and swap vendors surpassed even last year's show. We had the Boss Reunion, the Bullitt Reunion, the Mustang Dream Giveaway, Vaughn Gittin Jr., and so much more! And it all went off without a hitch.
Thanks to Mike Rey and Ken Janus and the rest of the MOCSEM Board and Show Committee Heads for all their hard work in organizing this show. Anyone who's ever worked on a car show knows what a tough job it is, but to do it on this scale is truly amazing. And a huge thank you to all the hard working volunteers that make a show of this scale possible. And let's certainly not forget all of our sponsors, especially our title sponsors Ford Racing, Classic Design Concepts, Livernois Motorsports, North Brothers Ford, Steeda, and Pypes.
We're already looking forward to and starting planning for next year's show which will again be at Ford World Headquarters on Sunday, August 12, 2012. See you there!
Stay tuned to this web site for more about the show, including photos. We will also be publishing a Mustang Memories Special Edition newsletter which will contain a list of class winners and lots of photos from the show. That takes some time to get together so please be patient and look for that some time in September.
MOCSEM is very proud to announce that the 2011 Mustang Memories show has been chosen by the International Mustang Bullitt Owners Club (IMBOC) to host their 10th Anniversary Reunion. The Bullitt Reunion is a three-day gathering of Bullitts featuring a variety of Mustang related activities leading up to their participation in the Mustang Memories show on Sunday, August 7th at Ford World Headquarters. You can learn more about the Bullit Reunion from the IMBOC on the web at www.imboc.com.
A 1965 Mustang Convertible owned by MOCSEM members Mike and Sue Bess was prominently featured in the recent wedding of Calvin Ford and Sarah Fox. Calvin is the son of Edsel B. Ford II and great-great-grandson of Henry Ford. See the article in the New York Times for more about the wedding.
With Mustang Memories barely two months away, we thought it would be helpful to start going over how the day is going to work so everyone knows what to expect and knows what to do on show day. Based on last year’s attendance and all the positive buzz this show has been generating, if the weather cooperates we are expecting around 800 cars! This information will also be posted at www.mocsem.com and will be updated there as necessary.
Pre-Registration
Goodie bags will be available for the first 500 registered cars. Judging will be available for 500 cars only. After that number is reached, cars will only be able to participate as display only. Because we expect to exceed those limits, we highly recommend that you pre-register for this show. If you show up unregistered on show day at 11:00 am and expect to receive a goodie bag and be included in the judging, you will probably be disappointed.
Show Workers
If you have committed to work at the show, please make every effort to fulfill that commitment. If you are a no-show, someone else will have to perform your duties. Show workers can begin arriving at 6:30 am. Be sure to allow yourself time to park and prepare your car before you are required to start working. You should be in contact with your committee chairperson well in advance of the show and you should be aware of what your job duties are and what time period you are needed.
You will receive a coupon for a free lunch that you can get from the foodservice vendor whenever it’s convenient. Your committee chairperson will also have a worker T-shirt for you to wear on show day. Please do not alter the shirt in any way such as cutting the sleeves as we want workers to present a consistent, professional image. Please remember you are representing MOCSEM so be professional at all times.
Registration and Show Car Parking
The gate is open for all show cars beginning at 8:00 am. Again, we recommend that you arrive as early as possible. Upon entering the show grounds, you will be first routed through the registration area. If you are pre-registered, you will enter the pre-registered line where you will receive all necessary show materials without even having to exit your vehicle. If you have not pre-registered, you will be directed to a temporary parking area and you will proceed to the registration tent to pay your entry fee and complete the registration process and receive your show materials. Remember, goodie bags will only be available for the first 500 registered vehicles. Once you are through at the registration area, you will be directed to the parking area.
Parking will be a little different this year. The lot is divided into four major areas: MOCSEM Mustangs, vendor midway, non-MOCSEM Mustangs and other Ford vehicles. There is absolutely no show car parking in the Vendor Midway unless your car is part of a vendor display. Be sure to indicate to the parking staff whether or not you are a MOCSEM member. All cars will be parked in order of arrival and not by generation like last year. This should simplify and speed up the parking process. If you are travelling with one or more other vehicles and wish to park together you are more than welcome to do so, but please plan on arriving together. The number of vehicles expected at the show makes it impossible for us to allow the saving of spaces.
When you register you will be given a window card that must be placed on or under the windshield where it is clearly visible prior to entering the parking area. This is your proof you have registered. Any vehicles found in the show area without a visible window card will be asked to leave. You will also be given wristbands for you and any guests in your vehicle. The wristbands identify you as a participant and must be worn at all times. If you are found on the show grounds without a wristband, security may require you to purchase a spectator wristband or escort you off the property.
Please follow the instructions of the parking staff as quickly and as safely as possible. Getting everyone in their proper place is a monumental task and is only possible with everyone’s patience and cooperation.
Judging
We will only be able to judge a total of 500 cars so if you plan on entering the show as a judged vehicle we highly recommend you pre-register. This is a large number of cars to judge in a short time so your cooperation is required. We are making every effort to ensure that the judging process is accurate and fair for everyone.
In your registration materials you will receive a window card, judging form, and a page of judging guidelines that provides you with specific instructions for the judging process, including requirements for how your car is to be presented. The window card must be placed on or under your windshield where it is clearly visible to the judge. The judging form must be placed on the outside of the windshield under a wiper. This is the form the judge will fill out when he arrives at your vehicle. If you do not have a judging form on your windshield your car will not be judged. As you are parked, a classification judge will classify your car and write that classification on the judging form. If necessary, please work with the classification judge to help them properly classify your vehicle. Do no alter the judging form in any way.
Judging will begin around 8:30 and will proceed in the order cars were parked. An announcement will be made over the PA system to alert you when judging begins. Your car must be ready when the judge arrives at your car so we recommend that you prepare your car as soon as you arrive. If you are not ready when the judge arrives your car will be judged as is. The judging guidelines sheet that is included with your registration materials will give you specific instructions for preparing your vehicle. Not following those instructions could result in the deduction of points.
You do not have to be present when the judging team arrives. If you are present, the judge may ask questions or ask you to open your vehicle. Other than that, please do not interfere with the judges in any way while they inspect your vehicle.
This is a very large show that features some of the very best Ford vehicles in the midwest so the competition is very stiff. That means that some people who feel they deserve a trophy may not win one. We make every effort to ensure that cars are judged fairly and consistently. The decision of the judges is final. Cars are judged strictly on presentation and cleanliness, not authenticity. Trophy presentation takes place at 4:00 pm. Trophies are awarded in each class to the very best vehicles in that class and sometimes the difference between winning a class award and not winning is very small. There will be a lot of beautiful vehicles on the show field so choosing the best of the best is a daunting task. While judges may, at their discretion, offer tips during the judging process, we do not release completed judging forms to anyone under any circumstances. They are destroyed immediately following the show. No exceptions!
Special awards are chosen by major sponsors and MOCSEM board members. These awards are subjectively chosen by the sponsors and individuals. The judging staff has no involvement in the selection of these awards.
Raffle and 50/50
There are two ways to win cash and prizes at the show: raffle and 50/50. The product raffle is held at the club tent at the south end of the show field. You can purchase tickets at the raffle tent and then place the tickets in the bucket corresponding to the prize(s) you want to win. Several of the prizes are worth several hundred dollars.
There will be two 50/50 drawings at 11:00 am and 1:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased from 50/50 workers who will be moving throughout the show field or from the 50/50 tent at the south end of the show field. Because the show field is very large, the PA system doesn’t cover some areas as well as others, making it difficult to hear the drawings in some areas. If you are in an area where you cannot hear the DJ, we suggest that you move to an area where you can hear prior to the 50/50 drawing times.
Food
A foodservice vendor will be on the show field selling lunch items such as hot dogs, hamburgers and beverages at a reasonable price. There will be food and tables located south of the show field. There will also be food carts travelling throughout the show field.
Cleanup
Ford Motor Company graciously allows us to use the World Headquarters property for this show. Please be respectful of them by cleaning up after yourself and leave your area free of trash just the way you found it when you arrived. There will be trash receptacles throughout the show field.
Have Fun!
This is going to be a show you don’t want to miss. In addition to several hundred of the best Mustangs and Fords in the Midwest, Mustang Memories 2011 will include the National Boss Reunion, Mustang Dream Giveaway grand prize presentation, an incredible collection of vendor displays, awesome product raffle and much, much more!
